Polyphasic Sleep: Disorder or Lifestyle

Many people refer to polyphasic sleep as a disorder. But actually it's just an alternative lifestyle, and has in fact been known to resolve other, genuine sleep-related disorders. While some are able to choose the alternate lifestyle, others have it forced upon them.

An interview with Professor Michael Billiard shows that they prescribe polyphasic sleep as the solution to their daytime narcolepsy, which is presumably an indicator of their naturally polyphasic sleep cycle.

Additionally, PureDoxyk writes: "If you have sleep disorders like nightmares, night terrors, mid-sleep choking fits, thrashing, muscle soreness or sleepwalking, this will probably flat-out cure you. I had many of the above, and they all disappeared on me virtually overnight. 20 minutes just isn't enough time to build up for those things". So we have at least one instance of anecdotal evidence that it's good for you.
